Lake District

For the purpose of covering these walks the Lake District has been divided into thirty sections, some of which might not be perfect, but in general are fairly well defined by natural boundaries and suited to the needs of the exercise. It is the prime objective here to provide and illustrate routes to the principal height in each section using the ridges, and visiting all other subsidiary summits on the ascent and all these routes are supported by drawings. These drawings are not the work of an artist, and have been distorted in places in order to show detail to aid walkers not familiar with the fells. The compass point shown on them will refer to the general direction of the diagram rather than any particular part.
